Siomai: Dumpling with ground pork and shrimp or prawns.
Last 2012, I went for a holiday in Cebu and that is where I tasted a worth blogging kiosk food… Siomai sa Tisa.
I blogged about my experience before but somehow deleted. It might be accidentally erased whilst tweaking the website when we were starting.
Back then, since I came back from my visit in Cebu I have been making a lot of siomai, and my friends went gaga for it. Today, I am going to share with you my recipe so you can have your own homemade siomai any time you like.
PREPARE THE STEAMER. Boil water and brush the steamer with oil.
Note: So the dumpling won't stick on the steamer.
COMBINE ALL THE INGREDIENTS. You have an option to do it manually or put all the ingredients in a food processor apart from the siomai or wonton wrapper. Blitz until all the ingredients are thoroughly mix.
REST. Refrigerate the mixture for about 20-30 minutes.
ASSEMBLE. Spoon 1 tablespoon of mixture into each wrapper then seal nicely.
STEAM. Cook the dumplings for 15-20 minutes for larger pieces depending on the size you made.
CHILLI SAUCE. Mix all the ingredients together depending on your taste then serve it with the siomai.
